the path of understanding the dharma…the teachings… of oneself is a life-long journey. we may learn something but there is no end to learning.
there is no mastery.
this is not a game.
notice when you are in process if you keep checking on others or comparing yourself or racing to “catch up” or “end”
this is intellectual.
& at times lacks integrity.
it relies on accumulation rather than embodiment.
notice those who practice & maintain their practice even with title(s).
notice those who have beginner’s mind & remain curious & know there is no end to knowing.
now, look, i will be the first to say that for most of my life, once i knew which direction i was going, i want to be there yesterday.
i barreled through all of my schooling, jamming 6 years of college into 4 years because i wanted “to be done” (on my schedule).
the impact: a lack of gentleness with myself, disembodiment & my intuition moved to another planet.
the Times also seem to be calling for speed–
but can there be urgency,
can we hold priority
& patience?
& generosity?
is there room for slow & down (deepening)?
