Everyday magic.
39 All activities should be done with one intention.
here we are– the last 21 slogans– which all center around point seven: how to move in the world with a practice of compassion.
up till now, perhaps you have been insular; doing your practice at home or perhaps you found a community to practice with on some frequency.
maybe you have considered this a practice separate from your everyday life.
what if could be a part of your everyday life?
what if everything we did was infused with the view, with the one intention to be of benefit to everyone?
we need both times of stillness to familiarize ourselves with the innermost spaces of our heart, but also we need to be in the world, fortified with the intention to have compassion in all activities– seemingly big & seemingly small.
Zoketsu Norman Fischer, a poet & Zen Buddhist priest, called these next group slogans– living with ease in a crazy world.
it seems no matter when we peek at humanity, somewhere, at some time, humans have experienced chaos & violence & war & division & plagues & all sorts of unkind circumstances.
yet, somehow, there was room for serenity, for calm, for a clear view to care for one another, which includes caring deeply for oneself.
this is my wish each time i do these posts– that you might remember a difficult moment but that you also remembered your breath, that you were kind in the midst of heartbreak, that someone (maybe it was you) was kind to you when you were in need.
as a celebrant of the Lunar New Year (Feb 17/18 depending on your tradition), i hope that you feel renewed & have a ground of compassion as your guide through another rotation of this beautiful mess of our humanity.
